What are treated diamonds?

Processed diamonds are diamonds that are changed to make their looks more beautiful and attractive. There are two types of diamond treatment; Artificial and natural.

Why are diamonds treated?

Diamonds are usually treated to make them more attractive, to remove small fractures in the diamond, or to remove or hide some of its defects. It can improve the treatment of color diamonds, clarity, or both. Clarity is improved through filling techniques ( breakage or laser ), while color is improved by radiation exposure, or a combination of high pressure and high temperature ( HPHT).

Ensure that the diamonds you purchase are not processed but natural!

Before you buy any diamonds, be sure to ask the jeweler whether the diamonds have been processed. If diamonds are sold as untreated, a certificate must be issued to prove this fact.

If you are intentionally buying treated diamonds, you should ask the jeweler to write the specifics of the treatment, any necessary care that must be given to the stones, and any type of guarantees the company provides, such as repairing treatment damage.

Anyone who buys treated diamonds must pay attention to the value of resale and ease of sale. Although purchasing treated diamonds may be less expensive, its value does not increase as is the case with naturally colored diamonds. In fact, its value may drop dramatically, and it may take a long time to resell it، So it is always a good idea to buy processed diamonds from a jewelry store that you agree with that you can resell the diamonds to recover their value if their treatment after a while is not satisfactory to you.
